No New Taxes? Yea Right!
April 14, 2011 by ItheConsumer.
Someone in the Media should remind the Republicans and Tea Party what happen to the last person who said “Read My Lips, No New Taxes.” For if we go by their definition of taxes than even Senator Ryan. Proposal will increase the taxes paid by many Americans. For how can you cut a deduction and say you are not raising the taxes of an individual? So does this mean that the Republicans and Tea Party members of the House and Senate who pledged no new taxes will not vote for the Ryan Plan?
Yes, another broken promise and it didn’t take the Conservatives two minutes. I wonder if that is a new record in politics. And why I don’t expect President Obama to exploit the fact, I do believe the Democratic Members of the House of Representatives should make it a point to show the Republicans just how dishonest they are being with the American Public on the issue of no new taxes. For I do believe it would help in the debate of fixing the budget and deficit since it will leave the Conservatives little room to deny that revenue has to be increased and not just on the back of the Middle Class and Poor.
For if they are serious about reducing the deficit and lowering the taxes of Corporations than they are going to have to raise the revenue from somewhere. Considering that most of the increase over the last 10 years is not from entitlements, but from the need to greatly expand homeland security and pay contractors like Halliburton. Since if one looks at the budget before 9/11 and the budgets that follow they will see where the greatest increase in government spending has gone while the revenue for America has steadily decreased over the same time frame. So should we have a debate on entitlements or the increase of funding required in fighting the War on Terror?
So why we hear the numbers of $4 and $6 trillion dollars over more than 10 years, given that we are over $14 trillion dollars in debt shouldn’t we hear our Democratic and Republican Leaders talk about how they can cut/raise $2 trillion a year for the next 7 years in order to get Americas’ Financial House in order. For what good is paying off only a third of the debt when we are going to need the money to win the Race to the Top? Thus, why the Media plays up the hype of the two parties position over increasing the debt limit in the next month or two, I do believe most Americans would agree that it is going to take more than cutting spending or increasing the taxes of the Wealthy Americans in order for “We the People” to once again feel like we are going to hand Our Children a Better World than the one handed to us 40 years ago. Consequently, will it take an Independent Candidate in 2012 to give Americans a plan which will once again allow Americans to enjoy Financial Freedom?

Can a Lame Duck become a Mighty Eagle?
November 30, 2010 by ItheConsumer.
As the Members of Congress run back to Washington to finish their term I wonder if they can find the courage to turn a lame duck into a mighty eagle. For though America faces some hard choices in order to get its house in order and prepare to lead the world in building a better world. It seems to me that there are some who do not understand what they were elected to do two years ago. Because why chance is never simple, dealt a bad hand from the beginning I do believe the Members of the 111th Congress can and should do the following;
1) Cut the debt;
Although not popular I do believe the President and Senate should start by reducing the Bush Tax Cuts by 2% across the board. In this manner All Americans would still receive some benefits while increasing the revenue needed to pay down the debt. And why I am sure the nearly $2 trillion dollars added to the budget could be used for several pet projects I would hope the retiring and senior members know to earmark the funds to pay for the two wars and/or put toward helping Americas’ Small Business Owners and Consumers move toward Energy Independence.
2) Paying for the War on Terror;
Knowing past Congresses have not paid for the two wars I do believe the 111th Congress could do a lot to help America recovery economically by learning from the Parents and Grandparents of WWII. For although the selling War Bonds may be seen as feeding the War Machine, the fact that 60 years ago it lead to a boom in the economy in the 50’s and 60’s should not only help reduce the short and long term debt, but also send a strong message to the world that America is in the war to win it.
3) Economy, Energy, and Jobs;
Understanding the three go hand in hand I do believe the 111th Congress would make history by creating a package which would create jobs by pushing the economy toward reducing the cost of energy used by the government. For though making the buildings energy efficient in the Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 may seem like a feel good idea to some, expanding the objective to the point of making the buildings self-sufficient with part of the money saved from Bush Tax Cuts should help the private sector by leading the way other institutions can become self-sufficient.
Yes, three simple things can be done by the 111th Congress to do the heavy lifting which the 112th Congress cannot and will not accomplish because their members will fear the wrath of the American Voter and Special Interest Groups. Thus, a Lame Duck can become a Mighty Eagle if Americas’ Democratic and Republican Civil, Political, and Religious Leaders want to prove they still have faith in the American Public in My Humble Opinion.

Political Think Tank Questions of the 21st Century
May 13, 2010 by ItheConsumer.
Why enlightening My Brothers and Sisters of the 70’s about the Guaranteed Civil and Constitutional Rights of the Children of the 21st Century is a game of Logic and Reason I find amazing. I still find it astonishing that it is the Teachable Moments of Time which allows the Common Human to question the Experts and Institutions of Mankinds’ Government and Society. And why the following is in no way a ditch on Americas’ Democratic and Republican Think Tanks of the 20th Century. I do believe the failure of the Oil Industry to properly deal with the broken pipe in the gulf goes to prove that the Corporations of World needs the Knowledge and Wisdom of Today’s Youth to solve the problems of the Establishment of the 20th Century.
For example; knowing that a broken pipe on land can be fixed easily with a clamp and moped up using a Wet-Vac I realize that a broken pipe a mile under water has its own set of unique problems to overcome; however, I have to ask the Oil Industry if they believe the Government of We the People should have to provide the underwater clamps and a Wet-Vac Ship capable of reaching a mile or more to recovery the loss resources of Nature. And though I realize that goes further than even President Obama and Congress is willing to talk about, I do believe that a Politically Viable Solution can be worked out between the opposing parties that will lead to the Children of the 22nd Century having the same opportunities as the Youth of the 60’s and Silver Spoons of the 70’s.
Because why only about 100 years of Natural Gas may get the Children of the 21st Century, I do believe with a piece tag of over $40 billion dollars that the Ideology of Making the Consumer Whole should be the Guiding Light Americas’ Democratic and Republican Elected Officials look at as they work to get Americas’ Government and Society ready for a Race to the Top. For why barriers can be built to offset the impact of future spills on the gulf hatcheries, I do believe with a little innovation that the average citizen could offer Oil, Solar, and Wind Energy off the same platform. For why the cost of recovery of the Oil may mean additional costs to the oil well owner just as the shoreline clean up, I do believe My Powers-that-Be need to talk to the Elders about rethinking the layout of the Gulf of Mexico. Since the National Power Grid would have to be rethought in order to provide a secured system from Man and Mature. So hopefully folks like Rush and Company will question why Americas’ Democratic and Republican Leadership insist on calling a Comprehensive National Energy Plan for the 21st Century a Cap and Trade Bill. Nevertheless, wondering what a 3 Giga Watt Society will look like by the year 2025 I hope the Elders are ready to discuss Political Think Tank Questions of the 21st Century based on the Ideology of Building a Better World.
